City women are Womens Henley winners!

On a proud day for City of Cambridge Rowing Club the women's coxed 4 of Sara, Fi, Lindsay & Chiara, with Renae coxing, won The Lester Trophy (Intermediate Club Coxed Fours) at Womens Henley  Regatta.

Down off the start and trailing by a length at the 500m mark City began a relentless advance on Royal Chester to eventually win by 3 and a half lengths in a new course record of 5min 24. Congratulations to the crew and their coach Cranch, along with everyone who made this fantastic result possible.

City win Lester Trophy at womens Henley

City was represented by five crews at Womens Henley. The Club Intermediate 8 of Jenny, Amy, Becky, Becs. Bell, Jess, Florence, Jenna and Matt reached the quarter finals of The Challenge Cup. Sam qualified for the Senior 1x event and was knocked out by the eventual winner, whilst the quad also met the winners of their event in the first round. The second Intermediate 8 narrowly missed out on qualifying for the knock-out stages.

A great set of results for the club. Special thanks go to Cranch, Nat, Tony, Gareth and Neil (among others) for their coaching, plus Sarah and Jess for their exceptional organisational skills.
