City Dominate Bumps

So Bumps has been and gone once more, an emotional rollercoaster ride of joy, anguish, drama, controversy, anguish and more anguish all wrapped up in four nights of tribal battle and excessive drinking.

City enjoyed the club's most successful results for decades as the women took headship for the first time since women's town Bumps has been rowed in 8's, and the men moved up 3 to finish 3rd overall, their highest position since the time when thin leather ties were cool and every man, woman, child and dog in the UK owned a Filofax.

Christmas arrives early for Russ!

And not only did the top boats perform but the club demonstrated it's strength in depth by winning the John Jenner trophy for the second successive year. It was a dream way to top off a year of successes and massive thank yous must go to all those rowers, coaches, boat-menders and organisers who volunteered their time and energy to make it possible.

In all there were 8 men's and 9 women's crews entered by City, many enjoying their first Bumps experience. Mentions in particular for M2 who went up 2, M3 who narrowly missed out on blades after a technical row-over was awarded on the first night, M4 who bumped three times and M7 who went up 2. In the women's division W6 bumped up three, W8 two and W9 covered themselves in glory by winning their blades.

Many congratulations to Cantabs who retained the headship in the Men's competition.
