Club Captains
The club unanimously voted in Jess Upton and Hannah James as the new Captain and Vice Captain. Both have a great deal of rowing experience and have been members of City for several years.
Jess Upton (Club/Women's Squad Captain)Jess first got involved with rowing in 1994 after watching two of her brothers row in the town bumps. Having always had family links with City she has been a member since 2008 and has coxed, sculled and rowed at various clubs throughout school and university before returning to Cambridge in 2004. Highlights of her coxing and rowing career include coxing Cantabs M1 to 2nd on the river in 2006 and qualifying for HRR in 2006, President of UEA Rowing Club for 2 years obtaining BUSA medals with both men and womens squads, Finishing 25th at the Veterans Head coxing Norwich RC (3rd in Vet E) in 2010, Awarded blades in 2009 rowing with City of Cambridge W3, reaching quarter finals in the Intermediate VIIIs at HWR 2010 and finishing 4th on the river rowing with CCRC W2 in 2010. |

Hannah James (Vice/Men's Squad Captain)Hannah first started messing around in boats at St Peter's College, Oxford before learning to cox at Girton College, Cambridge (where as M1 cox she took Girton into the Lents 1st Division). She has coxed for City since 2005. Highlights include competing with the First Men's VIII at HoRR and HRR, reaching 2nd on the river in the CRA Bumps 2008 and racing with the Master's squad at the FISA World Masters and at Henley Veterans. Hannah enjoys reading, baking and painting. She is still trying to work out who to support in the boat race! |
