Rowing Squads

CCRC has rowing squads catering to all abilities, operating throughout the year. Generally the squads are as follows, but they expand somewhat in summer:

  • Senior squad (best rowers and scullers)
  • Development squad (Rowers of Intermediate British Rowing Status)
  • Novice squad (Rowers of Novice British Rowing Status)
  • Masters squads
  • Beginners squads

CCRC Women

Senior Squad Experienced rowers targeting the major UK regattas. In 2010 members of this squad came 25th at WEHoRR and won The Lester Trophy for club coxed fours at Henley Women's Regatta. In 2009, 28th at WEHoRR, reached the Semi-Finals in Club Eights at Henley Women's Regatta and came 4th in Eights at the National Rowing Championships.

Intermediate/Development Squad Rowers at a competitive British Rowing-intermediate standard. In 2011 this squad entered 3 crews in WeHoRR (in addition to the Senior squad crew), as well as having representation at Henley Womens Regatta. In 2010 this squad entered three crews in WeHoRR, with the top crew coming 81st. Two eights entered Henley Womens Regatta with the A crew reaching the quarter finals in Club Eights. The squad also had a strong regatta season winning IM3 and IM2 at regional events.

The start of the 2011/2012 season has seen this squad race at Fours Head of the River and win W IM3 8+ at the Winter Head.

Novice Squad New rowers and those with novice British Rowing status. This squad offers new rowers the opportunity to learn, improve and compete at local races. In 2011 this squad won at Bedford Quarts, Peterborough Spring and Cambridge Autumn Regattas.

The start of the 2011/2012 season has seen this squad win W Nov 8+ at the Winter Head.

Masters Squad Experienced rowers who enjoy rowing, but can no longer commit to squad training. This squad has recently begun racing and won the Masters event at the Winter Head in 2011.

CCRC Men

Senior Squad Experienced rowers (generally at least 1 ARA point). The whole senior squad train together with the top end aiming for a high ranking at HoRR

In 2010/2011 Season this squad qualified for the Thames Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta, came 11th in IM2 4+ at Fours Head, had two crews in the top 200 at HoRR, with the remainder aiming at local regattas. This squad also produced wins at Oxford City Regatta 2011.

The start of the 2011/2012 season has seen this squad come 7th in IM2 4+, 115th overall at in 4s Head of the River, and win IM3 8+ at the Winter Head.

Novice Squad Mainly ARA novices and new rowers. This group has a reputation for success on the Camb and traditionally beat all other Camb clubs at novice class with the aim to win novice pots early in regatta season. This group won at Winter Head 2010, Christmas Head 2010, Winter H2H 2011, Champs VIIIs head 2011 and at Peterborough Spring Regatta in 2011.

Masters Squad Experienced rowers who wish to continue to row but do not have the time to commit to training regularly with the senior squad. In 2010/2011 Season this squad won Henley Masters A/B 8+ as well as numerous wins on the Cam. This squad has also seen crews visiting the FISA Masters regatta in recent years.

CCRC Sculling Squad

Some members of the senior squads focus on small boat rowing. This is supported by City and has produced wins at the following events:
