SENIOR MEN
City has a very successful senior squad with reigning men's Bumps headship on the Cam
Mission
The Senior Men’s squad is one of the leading club programmes in the East of England and enjoys success on a local, regional and national level. The Senior Men are divided into a performance squad and a development squad, with a clear progression pathway between the groups. The performance squad typically trains 6 days a week, across 12 sessions and operates in a competitive and selective environment. The development squad is focused on catering for its members with the aim of developing technique and physiology, with a flexible training schedule to suit those within.

The performance squad targets all major competitions, especially the major head races & regattas in addition to Henley Royal Regatta. The development squad aims to develop those within and targets races best suited to the ability of the group at specific timers of the year. Proudly based on the River Cam, the entire Senior Men also target the annual town bumps in July as an opportunity to showcase the depth in talent within the squad.
Training
As a squad, we are focused on maximising competition and our standards are ever increasing. We pride ourselves on our inclusivity, with a wide range of abilities supported through our dedicated and experienced coaching team. We are looking for experienced and competitive rowers who have the commitment and drive to succeed.
Following a structured & periodised programme, which is designed to be flexible to fit around a busy work schedule, squad members will be regularly tested for both physiological development and boat speed. Our athletes enjoy the following benefits:
-
An experienced coaching team, led by our full-time Director of Rowing.
-
Leading facilities & equipment - a well maintained and regularly updated fleet of Fillipi boats.
-
A tailored S&C programme which is undertaken in our Cam leading gym.
-
Training camps & long distance training venues - spring camps in the UK & on occasion in Europe, plus access to world class long distance facilities.
-
A vibrant and supportive club community environment - ‘The City ethos’, valuing and celebrating individuals within the club environment.
