City of Cambridge Rowing Club’s Women’s Squad have made an excellent start to the summer regatta season.  Whilst most would have cancelled their alarms on the Sunday of a bank holiday weekend, Sarah Large, Mez Dubois-van Slageren, Kate Hurst and Susie Valen were up at 5am and heading off to race Wallingford Regatta at Eton Dorney rowing lake.

In the morning competing in the Women’s Challenge Coxless Fours heats, they came third in their heat, narrowly missing out on a place in the final. The afternoon saw the Women’s Club Coxless Fours event, where City of Cambridge were able to comfortably win their heat and then go on to win the final, beating Agecroft, Auriol Kensington, Lea, Putney Town and City of Bristol in a time of 7:28.1.  They returned to Cambridge with the Chalmore Challenge Cup ready to take pride of place in their brand new boat house, opening summer 2019
