City of Cambridge Rowing Club is the ideal place to develop as an athlete, grow within a supportive squad system, and reach your racing goals.

City offers structured training and high-quality coaching led by our full time director of rowing. Our athletes benefit from a top of the range Filippi fleet and access to Peach telemetry.

Recent achievements include:

23 athletes qualified for HRR in 2025
Head of the river at the CRA Town Bumps since 2023 (men) and 2025 (women) – delivering the club’s first ever double headship

CCRC is a top town rowing club with great facilities and a vibrant social scene alongside the great rowing. We are also the hosts of the famous fancy dress Christmas Head!

Most of our rowers are experienced competitors, but if you’re new to rowing, our Learn To Row program with Cambridge Rowing Experience is a great place to get started.

BUMPS 2025

This time last month, we were still celebrating a most excellent Bumps season at City, with a double headship for men and women, 41 bumps total, blades galore, and many, many happy faces. Taking stock of it as we are about to enter the new season!

Town Bumps - Summary

A successful Bumps week has come to a close, with the club securing both the men’s and the women’s headships for the first time in our history. Here is a little visual recap of how our crews went! Our M10, M12, W4, W5 and W9 bumped up at all opportunities to win blades, with W6 also bumping four times.

We will post some more detailed breakdowns in the very near future, when we have recovered from the Bumps excitement, but for now we just want to express how chuffed we are with how this season has gone!

Henley Masters Regatta

Henley Royal Regatta Roundup:

What an incredible time. With 23 athletes qualified across 4 crews, we were eager to see them lay it all on the course against the best that rowing has to offer. They did not disappoint.

Wargrave Challenge Cup - The crew raced Vesta R.C. ‘A’ on the Tuesday; making history for the club not only by qualifying our first women’s VIII+ at the regatta, but also by winning their first heat with brio. On the Wednesday, they fought well against Thames R.C. ‘C’, and lost by 1.5 lengths. We are so proud to see the development the women’s squad has undergone this year.

Diamond Challenge Sculls - The luck of the draw had Ed draw none other than Olympic champion Olli Zeidler. As they raced on the Thursday, Ed made sure to storm off the start so he could enjoy being ahead for a few strokes, before being taken over by his opponent.

Wyfold Challenge Cup - Another strike of the luck of the draw! Our men’s IV- had to face the U19 World Champions in the Sydney R.C. crew. They fought hard, led at the barrier, left everything they had on the track, and lost by a respectable 3.5 lengths.

Thames Challenge Cup - Our men’s VIII+ had us hold our breaths and they broke our hearts a little, as they steamed ahead of Tideway Scullers School until over half of the course, to then be taken over and lose by just over a length.

As the best week of the year in rowing world came to an end, we are incredibly proud of all our crews, and we look ahead to step on to HRR 2026.

Henley Women’s Regatta

On Friday, our Development 4+ came 5th out of 44 crews in the time trial, placing them comfortably inside the qualifying 16 and one of only 3 club crews to qualify. A few hours later, they opened proceedings with a win in their first round against Plymouth University.
On Saturday, they raced their quarter final against Oxford Brookes, put in a strong effort and were defeated.

It was the first time any of the crew had competed at Henley; they all fell in love with the event and are looking forward to coming back next year!

🔵🟡🔴 BIG WEEKEND for City!! 🔴🟡🔵

At Eton Dorney on Monday for the Junior Sculling Regatta, our WJ15 1x did us proud as she rowed through the leading boat in the final to take the win! After she had also raced and won 😮‍💨 her categories at H2H and City sprints over the two previous days!

At Wallingford Regatta on Sunday, both the women’s and the men’s 8+ made the final, with the women coming third 🥉 and the men 5th! The 4- made it to the repechage after finishing second in its heat.

Back home, we had of course the Big City Weekend featuring Spring Head to Head on Saturday and City Sprints on Sunday. For Spring H2H, the club won pots in 5 categories (Mx2x, O8+Town, O4x, O2x, W4+), and saw a strong field of City entries. For Sprints, there were many figures of success! It marked the first foray into racing for 6 of the junior squad, and the debut of highly entertaining new category of coxes doubles. We had 185 seats racing and the club recorded 14 pot wins across the club’s wide landscape. The women retained the 8+ flag for the year being! 🫡

We are very chuffed with our members making sure the events ran smoothly and the swans didn't attack participants. 🫶🏻

The Men’s squad has six eights entered this Saturday, all looking to repeat the success of the Women’s squad on the tideway at WeHoRR just under 2 weeks ago.

City will be once again taking to the stage against the best crews clubs across the country have to offer, and we look forward to seeing our crews take on the tideway to round off a productive head season.

A very successful first couple of weeks of head race season with outstanding results from Small Boats Head and Autumn Head. This weekend City was also represented by three crews at Pairs Head on the Tideway.

Cambridge Small Boats Head: 14 categories won out of 20 categories entered. City set the overall fastest times of the day with senior men (O Champ 4+) and junior boys (O J16 4x-) & the junior girls were the fastest amongst all women’s crews racing (W J16 4x-).

Cambridge Autumn Head: 9 categories won out of 12 entered. City set the overall fastest times of the day yet again with senior men (O Champ 8+ & O ClubA 8+) & senior women were the fastest amongst all women’s crews racing (W Champ 8+).
