City Sprints
City Sprints takes place on the May bank holiday Sunday
City Sprints is an annual side-by-side 500m race in front of the boathouses, racing from Cutter Ferry footbridge to City of Cambridge Rowing Club. This year the race will be on Sunday 2 May 2027.
There is a bar and spectator viewing area at the finish line, and the Junior Squad parents will be selling hot food (always delicious!) outside the City boat house. All funds raised from the food go towards improving the equipment and training available to the Juniors.

The 2027 race will take place on Sunday the 2nd May
Entries
Boats can be entered under Student or Cambridge Rowing Association.
Events will be held across Open, Women’s and Mixed categories and in: 8+, 8x+, 4-, 4+, 4x, 4x+, 2-, 2x, 1x. For 2027, open and womens eights will have a plate competition, guaranteeing all entrants here at least two races.
Entries will open around 3rd April.
Entries will close at latest 25th April.

Prizes
Events will be banded as sensibly as entries allow
Where an event has a large number of entries, the organising committee may band entries into student and CRA, or by creating bands based on past performance. The organising committee reserves the right to change banding if they feel that a crew has been entered in a category that is too low.
Where an event has under 4 entries, the organising committee will offer competitors the option of racing crews of a similar speed by combining classes in order to provide more competition.
Prize giving will be at the City of Cambridge Boathouse at 6.30pm
Division Times
Racing takes place in divisions with first commencing at 10:30am. Crews will stay on the water until they are knocked out. It is expected that racing will finish by 6:00pm.
Any crew boat sharing must include the shell name on the entry form. Wherever possible we would discourage significant boat sharing.

Numbers can be collected on the day from the CCRC boathouse from 9:00am.
Boats must be at the marshalling area near New CRA/Combined boathouse at least 30 minutes before the start of the division.
