SENIOR WOMEN

2025

Holders of the CRA Town Bumps headship

Henley Royal Regatta: Won a round of the Wargrave Challenge Cup

Qualified 14 athletes across HWR and HRR

A Competitive Programme

The senior women’s squad at City of Cambridge Rowing Club is one of the strongest club programmes outside of London, with proven success at local, regional, and national level.

At the heart of the squad is our performance squad – a programme designed for athletes who aspire to race and win at the very highest level of club rowing – WEHoRR, Henley Women’s Regatta, Henley Royal Regatta, etc. Our training programme calls for 12 sessions across 6 days per week, combining water time, erg work, and strength & conditioning, all within a supportive, competitive environment.

Alongside this, we run our core and development squads – competitive squads with more flexible training requirements. These athletes row and race both on the river Cam and further afield, but without stringent commitment expectations. This pathway allows experienced rowers to compete seriously and enjoy the sport at a high standard while balancing other life commitments.

A Performance Training Environment

We follow a structured, periodised programme designed to develop speed and resilience, while remaining flexible for athletes balancing demanding careers or studies. Progress is tracked through regular physiological and boat-speed testing.

Athletes benefit from:

  • An expert coaching team, led by our full-time director of rowing

  • A modern, well-maintained fleet of Filippi boats fitted with Peach Telemetry

  • A tailored strength & conditioning programme in our on-site gym

  • A training camp in regatta season to find speed, as well as weekends at Ely throughout the year

  • A thriving club and performance culture – the City women train alongside the men as one squad

We are looking for rowers and coxes with varying levels of fitness and experience, but who are committed, competitive, and motivated to win at the highest level of club rowing.
