**National School’s Regatta**

In the sweltering bank holiday heat the Junior Performance squad produced the strongest set of results ever at the regatta, battling it out with some of the best junior programs from across UK & Ireland!

This is a testament to countless hours of hard work from our juniors and from Piotr as Junior Performance lead coach.

The squad now turns their attention to Henley Royal with the aim of qualifying both to the Diamond Jubilee & Fawley Challenge Cups! Go for it team!!!

Off-Cam club achievements this side of May

Regatta season is well underway and the senior performance, core, juniors, and masters squads got some serious side-by-side racing experience and fantastic results at Dorney lake and Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre. Wallingford Regatta
The senior performance squads took on the first major national regatta of the season and produced some exceptional results. The top men & women’s boats doubled up in both 8s and 4s with the men showing some encouraging performances across the boat types. The women had a statement day going toe to toe with the leading national club programmes, topped off with an exceptional & commanding win in the club 4- event. Club results:

Junior Sculling Regatta
The final major national race of the summer season before National Schools saw 4 junior performance crews race at the JSR. An incredibly mature row from our JW16 4x saw them come away with the win, overturning the result from JIRR last weekend in an emphatic way! Club results:

Junior Interregional Regatta

With 4 City crews selected to represent the Eastern Region (the most of any club/school in the region) the Performance Juniors had an outstanding day up at the NWSC in Nottingham. Results:

A hugely impressive set of results against the best juniors!

‘Dutch Wizard’ was christened today as our new men’s VIII+, in the honour and presence of the actual Dutch Wizard @vfsdubois who gave so much of his time and expertise to the club. His magic touch, good spirits, and dry humour have helped the Performance squads go fast and use their glutes — so it was a no brainer when the opportunity came to pool together to name this boat. Though you may no longer live in the country Vince, you are, how you say, always with us 💙💛♥️

Looking back on: Cambridge Junior Sculling Championship

A very recent addition to the races organised by the club, the sculling event went brilliantly! The sun came out, the marshalls and bank parties herded their crews, the kids had a good time, bish bash bosh.

Well done to all who participated, and special congratulations to Will (City @cityrcjuniors) for fastest open 1x, Bea (Peterborough @peterborough_city_rowing_club) for fastest girls 1x, and Rob Roy @robroyrowing for being the Victor Ludorom winners!

WEHoRR Provincial Club Pennant Winners!!!

A first for the club!! Our 1st VIII came 22nd overall with a time of 19:25.1 😮‍💨

Hungry for more in regatta season!

What, like its hard? ♥️💙💛

Actually, a whole lot of incredibly hard work, dedication and discipline went into making WEHORR a perfect day out for our entire women’s squad!

W1 - went on a redemption journey and picked up that Provincial pennant that they narrowly missed last year and landed into 22nd spot on the river!

W2 - moved a whopping 104 boat places and finished 52nd overall setting up a redemption arc of their own for next year as they just missed out on the Challenge pennant by 1.8s!

W3 - are the fastest provincial third boat and just outside the top 100 at 106!

W4 - had a great race of their own and finished 227th while showcasing just how deep our squad is!!

Congratulations to all of our incredible ladies and a few gents who helped them along the way for this incredible achievement!! 💖🥹

A little “Winter miles make Tideway smiles” edit from your favourite provincial club

Rachael — a lush boat for a lush woman.

Today our new women’s coxless four was named in memory of Rachael Ancliffe, who coached the junior squad at City for many years, rowed with the COWs, and was a joyful presence on the Cam. She was a strong believer in giving it all for the team. She is very missed. Her husband Phil and the Ancliffe family, who were City juniors, were there, as well as many of their rowing peers.

Her memory lives on as we take out this new sleek boat.

Last week, City was very honoured to receive the Davison Award for a standout performance of a small club at @fourshead.
