SENIOR MEN
Holders of the CRA Town Bumps Headship since 2023
Qualified 13 athletes for Henley Royal Regatta in 2025

Mission
The senior men’s squad has become the most successful club rowing programme in Cambridge and continues to grow and collect new achievements and records, all while maintaining an unparalleled culture and community

The senior men are divided into a performance squad, a core squad and a development squad, with a clear progression pathway between the groups. The performance squad typically trains 6 days a week, across 12 sessions and operates in a competitive and selective environment. The core and development squads are focused on catering for all with the aim of developing technique and physiology, with a flexible training schedule to suit those within.

The performance squad targets all major competitions, especially the major head races & regattas in addition to Henley Royal Regatta. The core and development squads aim to develop those within and target races best suited to the ability of the group at specific times of the year. Proudly based on the River Cam, the entire senior men's squad also targets the annual town bumps in July as an opportunity to showcase the depth and talent within the squad.
Training
As a squad, we are focused on maximising competition and our standards are ever increasing. We pride ourselves on our inclusivity, with a wide range of abilities supported through our dedicated and experienced coaching team. We are looking for experienced and competitive rowers who have the commitment and drive to succeed.
Following a structured & periodised programme, which is designed to be flexible to fit around a busy work schedule, squad members will be regularly tested for both physiological development and boat speed. Our athletes enjoy the following benefits:
-
An expert coaching team, led by our full-time Director of Rowing
-
A modern, well-maintained fleet of Filippi boats fitted with Peach Telemetry
-
A tailored strength & conditioning programme in our on-site gym
-
A training camp in regatta season to find speed, as well as weekends at Ely throughout the year
-
A thriving club and performance culture – the City men train alongside the women as one squad
