Winter Head 2 Head

This year's Winter Head 2 Head race will take place on 31 January 2026.

The race is two lengths of 2,000m: race downstream, spin, and race back upstream for one of the longest races on the Cam!
 

The first leg starts at the Chesterton Railway Bridge in Cambridge and finishes at the A14 bridge. Boats spin at the lock and racing starts again at the A14 bridge and finishes at the Chesterton Railway Bridge.

Entries

Boats can be entered under Student or Cambridge Rowing Association.

Winter Head 2 Head features categories for Open, Women’s and Mixed categories and in: 8+, 8x+, 4-, 4+, 4x, 4x+, 2-, 2x, 1x.

THE 2026 RACE will take place on Saturday 31 January. Entries will open on January 3rd.

Prizes and results

Winners for categories with 3 or more entries (or 2 or more for juniors) will receive prizes.

Prize giving will be in the City of Cambridge Boathouse at 4.15pm 

Results will be published on Webscorer as soon as possible after each leg here.

Numbers can be collected from the CCRC boathouse from 7:15am.

Boats must be at the marshaling area at least twenty minutes before the start of the division.
